A companion picture to Sunset (The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Inv. No 769), this was commissioned by Marquis de Villette in 1745. Engraved by P. J. Duret in reverse under the title Fishermen Returning from the Sea, with a dedication to Marquis de Villette.
