Oil on canvas. 37 X 47 cm. Inv. No 981 Tl\f picture can undoubtedly be regarded as a portrait, like other works by Lancret of the same type, among them Portrait of the Saint-Martin Family from the G. Wildenstein Collection, which was put up on sale at Sotheby's (London), or Portrait of a Lady with Her Children from the David Weill Collection in Paris, in which the figures are depicted against the background of a park landscape.
